Interview on CBC As It Happens about BC Court of Appeal decision on private medical records, April 2023 (at 47:30)

I supported my Nation, Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, on our legal and policy work for self-government and children and family legislation throughout my time at law school.

For my LLM, I examined the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Article 31, and the importance of engaging with Indigenous law for re-shaping Canada’s intellectual property regime.

I grew up playing hockey. I enjoy yoga and pottery.

I was a panelist for the 2025 conference on “Reconciliation and the United Nations Declaration Act: Indigenous Intellectual Property in Canada and International Developments.” I discussed Cree intellectual property law, and the insolvency of the Hudson’s Bay Company within the purview of Indigenous cultural property repatriation.

I am a member of the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation Youth Council. Our council works towards advocating and uplifting the voices of the youth within our Nation.

I helped launch a scholarship to commemorate my grandmother, and namesake “Alphonsine Lafond” to support Indigenous women and girls throughout their post-secondary education.

I chose Ratcliff because of the firm’s work in Aboriginal law. The firm has a longstanding commitment to Indigenous peoples and communities. As an Indigenous person who has worked within my own community, this level of integrity and long-term relationship building is critical in this area of legal work.
