Full time Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our Real Estate team.

Responsibilities

This role will have responsibility for handling all real estate matters, including:

  • Managing residential and commercial sales, purchases, mortgages, and administration files independently or as required by the firm’s real estate lawyers
  • Resort (including fractional) real estate transactions
  • First Nations real estate transactions
  • GST registrations
  • Prepare and draft all legal documents, correspondence, and accounts required for completion of the real estate transactions
  • Liaise with clients, financial institutions, counsel, and other external parties as needed
  • All related reporting and billing

Position Requirements

  • Graduate of a Legal Administrative Assistant or Paralegal program
  • 4 + years of legal experience in a Real Estate Department
  • Ability to prioritize and handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to independently manage a file from beginning to end
  • A self-directed working style, but also an ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong computer skills are essential (Outlook, MS Word/Excel, EsiLaw, BC Online, MYLTSA)
  • Working knowledge of ProSuite or other similar conveyancing software
  • Meticulous attention to detail 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong administration and organization skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • A high level of professionalism while working closely with lawyers, staff and clients

Full time Corporate Services Paralegal to join our Corporate Services Department.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Corporate Services Department Supervisor, the Corporate Paralegal will work directly with other Corporate Services team members and lawyers on various corporate transactions including:

  • Preparing documents for BC and Federal entities, including incorporations/organizations, name changes, amalgamations, restorations, dissolutions, setting up transparency registers and other related documents
  • Preparing and filing documents for extra-provincial and business name registrations
  • Conducting due diligence searches
  • Preparing documents such as share issuances, transfers, redemptions and repurchases, appointing and removing directors and officers and other basic resolutions
  • Conducting minute book reviews and prepare documents to correct any minute book deficiencies

Position Requirements

  • A Paralegal certificate of diploma from a recognized institution
  • 2 – 3 years of experience as a Paralegal in a Corporate Services Department
  • A solid knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong administration and organization skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • A high level of professionalism with lawyers, staff and clients
  • Experience working with Worldox and Esilaw is an asset
  • Experience working with ALF is a strong asset

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining files; including daily filing, file organization, opening files, closing files, etc.
  • Drafting correspondence and legal documents
  • Prioritizing workflow to ensure completion of accurate work, within established time frames
  • Managing key dates including bring forward system and updating calendars for assigned lawyers, including their meetings, appointments, due dates and client-related activities
  • Scheduling and booking travel for lawyers and all related documentation and communication with relevant parties
  • Managing and filing documents online
  • Billing and time-entry
  • General administrative tasks

Position Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant
  • Legal Assistant certificate from a recognized program
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Good working knowledge of Worldox and Esi Law are strong assets
  • Ability to accurately handle a high volume of work
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills and ability to work under pressure to meet important deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
