Mario uses his legal skills to advocate for, and advance, the cultural, environmental and economic development objectives of his clients. He works together with First Nations, their governments and business units, to find practical solutions for complex problems involving a diverse group of stakeholders.
After a brief period as in-house counsel for a Canadian company specializing in carbon removal and carbon utilization technologies, Mario is back at Ratcliff eager to continue fostering and assisting environmentally-conscious ideas and actions that have the potential to improve our communities.

- Resolution of contractual disputes
- Tribunal and administrative matters
- Net-zero strategies and carbon transactions (including emission reduction and/or carbon removal purchase agreements, VVB engagements and voluntary carbon market agreements)
- Acted for different BC First Nations in their acquisition of Forest Tenures within their Traditional Territories
- Advised a recurrent seller of carbon credits in multiple transactions within voluntary markets
- Acted for a BC First Nation in the acquisition of an interest in a hydroelectric project
- Advised a First Nation Tribunal on the validity of their instituted process and substantive outcome
