Benefits of Articling Learn by doing meaningful work
Ratcliff LLP offers a supportive, team‑oriented environment where articling students are treated as valued contributors from day one. With long‑standing client relationships and a wide range of active files, students gain practical experience, close mentorship, and a strong foundation for long‑term practice.
Each year, we welcome two articling students who work directly with our lawyers on substantive legal matters, including: trial work in Provincial Court, Chambers applications in the B.C. Supreme Court, and files and practice areas aligned with your individual interests.
A Foundation of Practice
At Ratcliff, articling is not just a requirement to be completed; it is an opportunity to build confidence, judgment, and professional identity. Students are encouraged to take ownership of their work, ask questions, and engage fully in the life of the firm.
Our articling students benefit from meaningful, hands-on legal experience, direct mentorship and day-to-day guidance, ongoing professional development, and opportunities for community engagement and service.
Mentorship That Is Personal and Collaborative
Our consultative approach emphasizes active dialogue between students and principals. We tailor each articling experience to support individual learning goals while ensuring exposure to high‑quality legal work.
We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate a genuine interest in our areas of practice, demonstrate a strong academic performance, and have broad life experience and cross-cultural awareness.
